Perfect Emotion
From the deep poetry archives
Perfect Emotion
Dressed in perfection
From everyone’s point of view
Filled with emotion
That never seemed to show
A fountain of mystery
Having yet to erupt
With a flow of solutions
That remain locked inside
One day, the fountain
Will let out its contents
Spilling out in a flurry of
Anger, laughter, and tears
But for now
The fountain remains
Untouched and shrouded in mystery
Locked until the right moment
And dressed in perfection
From everyone’s point of view
Filled with emotion
That will never have to show
This one is from the “deep” poetry archives. I wrote this during my sophomore year of high school, when I was 15. It’s not much of a secret that I struggled with abuse growing up, and I know—every time I read this poem—exactly what was going through my mind when I wrote it. My heart aches for the little girl who was never allowed to be anything but picture perfect. Love, light, and healing to all.

So sad, but this poem is a magical moment of defiance - that little girl is making her voice heard, she made art, despite everything.
